Utah music educator Caleb Chapman has been bringing his young charges to our festival for many years. And each year his student groups perform, they leave audiences in awe. His concept is simple: he connects excellence in music performance to fostering excellence in life. His award-winning music performance training program, Soundhouse, was born in 1998 when Caleb was still in college. Thousands of young lives have been positively impacted by Soundhouse programs. Not only do the enrolled musicians learn to work with each other, but they are afforded opportunities to work with seasoned vets in the industry who give them a perspective on what it means to be a working musician. One such musician, the Grammy-winning recording artist, David Sanborn took note of how Caleb’s students thrive under his tutelage. “If Caleb represents the future of music education, it is in good hands,” Sanborn said.

This year, the Voodoo Orchestra, a jump swing collective of musicians ranging in age from 15 to 18, will be firing up the main stage with their beautifully executed, energetic take on classic tunes with fresh takes. Big band never sounded so good!
